my interning life: lots of walking april 20-21,2009
april 20, 2009: well, our scheduled pull-out was moved so we all stayed in the office. i brought all the clothes we used last week to work so we can go over all of them again. then i phoned stratworks for sponsorship of food for our shoot on thursday - JOLLIBEE! haha i also coordinated with iya villania’s manager for an inside story. he’s so waley. hahaha then geolette went over with me the editorial tasks i have to accomplish. phew! it’s quite a lot if you ask me - assistant styling, interviewing, covering and writing. then off i went to frank’s exhibit in white plains with my plurkada!!! i love them! tita pia and the babies also dropped by. paka-cute nina arkin and clara. kaloka. haha then after dinner, we all went to mar and iya’s place to hangout some more. it was so fun (and funny..) tee hee. got home at around 12.

april 21, 2009: super tiring day. joel asked me to head on to SMX convention center where the last day of casting for fashion week was being held. i was to pick-up some bags from yako, a designer. when i got there, i was kind of disoriented. there were so many models everywhere - ang daming pangit. HAHA i didn’t know how to navigate my way around the place. good thing i bumped into mau. i went to room 10 where the main casting was happening. i waited outside, and so did the apparently nervous girls. haha. yako’s so nice and he handed me 2 unconventional looking bags, if you ask me. it’s not yet out for the public so he shoved it inside this puma bag. :| haha he didn’t want the other people there to see it.. off i went to greenbelt 5. ( i really wanted to take pictures of the models waiting but djahe. ;p haha)

a soon as i got there, i proceeded to louis vuitton to talk to the manager for pullouts. too bad the PR head wasn’t there so the guy there just gave me her contact details. we’ll just coordinate with her through phone. then i walked around to kill time. it was pleasantly raining and greenbelt was beautiful. the rain made the place more cozy. it made me want to sleep. haha i went to starbucks to again, kill time. :| as soon as joel got there from his pull-outs from melissa dizon, we worked. first off, zara.. then ac for props and accesories then this quaint little store i forget for some bags. grabe. we pulled out so much that i didn’t know how to manage them. i left all the bags in their respective stores then i went around. At around 5pm, i got all of them then stayed in the main foyer in front of zara. akala ko pa naman my dad will ge there on time but no, he didn’t cause of the traffic. i had to wait for 30 more mins, watching over a pile of HUGE bags.. they were heavy and it was impossible for me to move so i stayed by the entrance of zara.. mukha akong pulubi (hence the picture. BWAHAHAHAHA) anyway, that was my day.

now, i’m looking for some models for our editorial spread on thursday.. we need 2, i already have one.. i need one more. by tomorrow. :| anyway, later!

my interning life: shoots, boots and loot(bag)s april 17, 2009
yesterday was a long day for me. i woke up at 6am to be at doc’s house by 7ish am. prior to that morning, i only had a couple of hours of sleep since i worked on the write-up for banana republic. i brought the clothes to the location and to my surprise, there were 2 other pictorials happening at the same time - onesimus ad campiagn, stella beauty and fashion editorials and ‘pops fernandez’s album photoshoot’. hahahaha. doc’s really in demand that immediately after finishing all the shoots by around 3-4pm-ish, he headed off to makati to shoot kris aquino! he’s really good.
anyway, our clothes were sponsored by marc jacobs, zara, mango, gliteratti (local brand), zooyork and sketchers for the shoot. as soon as joel got there, the endless work began. we mix and matched the clothes, decided on the styling and explained the concept of the hair and make-up to the team. yes, there was a batallion working together for stella magazine. we had 3 models, 3 make-up artists and a hairstylist. they were all friends with each other. joel introduced me to them and they were really nice to me. it felt like a gay reunion of somesorts since the other make-up and hair people from the 2 other shoots also know the people in our team - kagulo! hahaha

we had SO MUCH hair and make-up changes, make-up stations were everywhere, there was an abundance of clothes, fake hairs flying in the air and piles and piles of shoe boxes waiting to be chosen. it was an experience! joel allowed me to style the clothes and it felt really great getting a thumbs up on the things i’m putting together.. and the fun part is, i’ll see them on the pages of the magazine! yey! hahaha
it was really tiring, no. MAJOR TIRING. btw, we also featured tricia gosingtian as our style profile since her fashion aesthetic goes wll with our next issue’s theme - HARAJUKU. hahaha thanks tricia! we had our lunch courtesy of gerry’s grill. yum!! i got home at around 430pm then i had an hour or so to take a nap then off i went to fiamma for the L’Oreal brandstorm competition.

it was martin and michael’s event. my bestfriend hosted it, nicky! she looked great! i also interviewed the brand manager of L’Oreal and the brand manager of the luxury line of fragrances under loreal for another write-up. don’t you just love it?! cause i do! the party was great, seeing familiar faces and overflowing food and drinks. loveit. haha. they also gave me a lootbag and a presskit but i left it in alfred’s car. i have to get it to be able to work on my piece. anyway, after the event, everyone else started coming in! i was so psyched seeing my barkada after a long time. i missed them! yey! here’s to klau for bagging the ‘face of the night’ HAHAHAHA
all-in-all, yesterday was F-U-N. it’s tiring anf really demanding but you know, i can get used to this! i love my job and i love you. on to my next task, pullout clothes on a sunday. :| HAHAHA

my interning life: sweat, muscles and fashion april 15-16, 2009
i didn’t get to blog yesterday since i got home at 2am and i was too tired to do anything but sleep. hahaha anyway, yesterday and today are both just major days.
april 15, 2009: joel and i went to greenbelt 5 to pick out the clothes for our shoot tomorrow from zara and marc by marc jacobs. it was fun “shopping” without thinking of anything. “that, this, those and those”—-> it was that easy choosing. haaaay. joel also introduced me to bang pineda. he is so nice and i love his clothes! so chic! they talked about the clothes bang will make for angel locsin’s cover shoot 2 weeks from now. then off we went to louis vuitton to visit my friend miles and also to talk to the manager for next week’s hopeful pullout. we waited but we didn’t have time so next time na lang! haha
it was the king of rap’s 40th day and the magalona’s threw a little get together to commemorate and celebrate francis m’s life and music. i ran late for the mass and the dinner so i ended up eating alone outside since the cute mini concert the entrie family threw was going on. i didn’t want to eat infront of everyone. haha. ang init. it was really hot and yet SUPER FUN! it’s always nice hanging out with the plurkada! i love you all! hindi pa kami nakuntento, we transferred to grilla libis to drink some more. (COOL haha) my brother picked me up at 130 and got home at 2. :| hahahaha oh, fuck that cab driver. i rode a cab from greenbelt to corinthians and the ass charged me 350 pesos. wala lang. what a rip off. i let it go na lang since i had to get there anyway. haha
april 16, 2009: i headed off to greenbelt to meet up with geolette and joel for the private fashion show of banana republic’s spring-summer 2009 collection at their greebelt store. it was tres bien. i signed in as stella’s staff and was treated like the other fashion people there.. and it felt good. HAHA there were cocktails and hors derves being served and a mini-fashion show to present the latest collection. it was an intimate affair but fasion nonetheless. i interviewed the brand manager of banana republic in the philippines and i have to write on it. the clothes were beautiful and it they looked expenisve and well-crafted. it was my first private showing. one for the books. and oh, there was a lootbag. haha and i got a tie. (btw, i saw val before the show. haha she’s working for greyone social now. i missed her!)

after the show, the endless walking began. we went to mango glorrieta to pullout some clothes. we got so much for tomorrow’s shoot. HAHA then i went with joel to his human and bench pullouts for his another gig in another magazine. by 5:30, we went back to mango to pick-up the clothes we chose since they had to encode everything.. then mar by marc jacobs then this accessories store then zara where joel bitched out on the staff. if you can recall, we already chose the clothes from zara and marc the day before.. guess what?! they only encoded the things a while agoe when we picked it up. joel wasn’t pleased. hahahahaha i love you joel. (here’s a pic, don’t be fooled - those are huge. :|) hahaha

my cousin met up with me at the greenbelt foyer - WE CARRIED SO MUCH. the bags were MAJOR HUGE and MAJOR HEAVY… and MAJOR EXPENSIVE. :| he helped me carry the things to his car which was a block long walk. it was tiring. to be honest, i’ve always dreamed of this but now that i’m actually doing what i’ve only dreamed of doing, i kind of feel tired. I LOVE MY JOB and i wouldn’t rade it for anything else but as cliche as it may seem — it’s not all glamour. it’s sweat and tears, lots of talking, lots of stress and lots of walking.
i’m not complaining, i’m just realizing. i love everyone in stella and garage. <3
anyway.. i’m early tomorrow at 8am for a long day of shooting then martin and michael’s loreal event at fiamma at night. oh, i’ll see my barkada. i ca’nt wait.

my interning life: to do april 15 2009
god. what a hot and tiring day.
it’s 12:18 to be exact and i have just finished rehashing the press releases of stella’s may issue sponsors. it’s honestly my least favorite task since it’s literaly reading unending pages of press materials- from Rustan’s to Krispy Kreme to Ponds and VISA. it’s a sure source of headache. :| i have to go over pages of text about anything and everything - promos, advertising, product launches, fashion releases. it’s not great. it’s going over all the details and writing a 200-300 word condensed version of whatever it is they sent us. ugh. OH WELL. it’s part of the job description.
so, i got to the office at around 1pm. when i got there everyone was out so i called up joel to know where they were. “The Walls” yup, literally in the walls. it’s a quaint carinderia embbeded on the walls of intramuros- infront of mapua and lyceum to be exact. HAHA it’s my first time in that area. anyway, the sun was up and it’s burning me. it’s just a stone-throw away from bulletin; near enough to walk to but also far enough to hail a pedicurecab to. i rode the pedie since the heat was just penetrating me in an unsexy manner.
in fairness, it was a nice lunch. i always look forward to bonding with my colleagues. they’re fun! and i especially love joel’s quirkiness, they’re all SUPER NICE. i can’t even exhaust how much i love them!
anyway, we went back and roch, my associate editor asked me to check my mail. this is what i bumped into - a to do list. :) (hence a screenshot of my mail)
1. call Rustan’s for price inquiry. 2. re-hash PR materials 3. contact the contributors.
i immediately worked on it. i called up Rustan’s. Apparently, only one of the 5 brands were under SSI - Max Factor. So I had to think on my feet on how i’ll get to contact the other companies. I checked out the brand listing at the back of other publications and thank goodness, the contact details were there! i called up SM department store for Maybelline New York, Shu Uemura office, Skin Food office and Amway for Artistry. I finished it in no time. It felt good.
I did something right! yey.
Then i started on the painstaking work of re-hashing PR materials.
I stalled.
I fell sleepy.
I didn’t have plans of doing the PR since it was just really… blah. so I checked up on my list again. HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. The details for may’s contributors is due at 5pm. It was 3pm. I scrambled. I texted the stylists, hair and make-up and camera people. Only 2 have replied so Roch extended the deadline to tomorrow morning. YEY.
how tamad they are. they didn’t even muster the strength to get on their asses, get their phones and reply. oh well. hahaha it’s okay - i’m the intern anyway!
and besides, i love what i’m doing. hahaha
so, i left work at around 6:30 and got home late. it was traffic and my dad had to pass by some other places.
I worked on the PR releases as soon as I binged till my empty stomach was happy. I finished - well, just now.
hahahaha it was a long day and i’m just really pleased with everything. oh and i’ll be on the staff block of stella’s may issue so i’m just really psyched!
tomorrow will be a long day. my task: layouting. so tata for now.
i love you all, <3<3<3 your adrianne.

13 April 09
part 1: my mobile devirginization.
disclaimer: i am not maarte. period.
i’ve been interning for sesame seed for a couple of weeks now and i’ve been having a swell time. i get to do things other people only dream of doing. yes. working for a fashion publicaton is fun - the whole nine yards of writing to cheking out clothes. it’s everything i’ve dreamed of.. and then some.
i don’t commute. no arrogance attached. it’s just that my parents raised me without introducing me to the 1,2,3’s of public transportation. they glared at the idea of their kids having to battle out the smoke and the hassle of unsafe mobility. so it’s not my fault that i don’t commute. i never entertain the idea - until my first day of internship. :|
i forgot about my first day and all the cars were being used. i was helpless since i really had to report there. my mom was scrambling at home, panicking for my insistent pressure of settling with commuting. she didn’t have a choice. no taxi took us in since the place is incredibly far from where i’m living - qc. so i thought on my feet and asked my pregnant yaya to tag along with me. my parents commanded her to accompany me since it’s she who knows the ins and outs of dangerous manila. she was street smart and that’s all that i’m not. (yet)
we rode the fx.
I RODE THE FX. yes, I RODE AN FX.
well, i played it cool. i didn’t want to give the people the impression that i’m a first timer or else they would’ve kidnapped me - not a good idea. nonetheless, people were looking at me (silly me and my imagined audience again. tee hee) and it made me really uneasy. thank god for maids, they’re manila’s version of guardian angels without wings. i felt safe beside her.
the trip wasn’t that bad since it was just one ride anyway. manila’s scary. it’s congested with garbage & pollution, old buildings & jeepneys, weird looking people and just chaos everywhere. very unsafe. anyway, we went down in front of the city hall which was squatted by food and porn vendors. yes, they sell porn in the streets. :| we used the underpass to get to the other side where even more vendors were situated and a long line of scary looking pedicab drivers were stalling.
they were rude. they were all checking me out and some even welcomed me into the grand intramuros with sweet mockery. those filthy pigs. *oink*oink* well, a lot of people were walking, thank god, so i just went with the flow of them, nice, modest-looking people.
alas, i got in intramuros. in fairness, the place looks very historical. i love it. the high, thick walls and old spanish houses were screaming “come, adrianne, come. welcome to intramuros!” it made me smile.
from the intramuros gate, it was just a block-long walk to the manila bulletin office, (where the sesame seed office is). honestly, the building’s really old and needs to be renovated (IMMEDIATELY).
i arrived safe and in one piece. thank you jesus.
it was a long and scary travel for me and i look up to all the strong filipinos who brave the dangers of the streets. my hats off to you. you are all heroes.
it was an adventure i will treasure forever and now i can say that i am independent. i was picked up from the office by 6pm since manila is more dangerous at night- happy in the safety of my car. love it.
it was my first and last trip down the commuting road of manila - or so i thought.
part 2. real soon.
with love, your adrianne. <3<3<3

part 1: my mobile devirginization.

disclaimer: i am not maarte. period.

i’ve been interning for sesame seed for a couple of weeks now and i’ve been having a swell time. i get to do things other people only dream of doing. yes. working for a fashion publicaton is fun - the whole nine yards of writing to cheking out clothes. it’s everything i’ve dreamed of.. and then some.

i don’t commute. no arrogance attached. it’s just that my parents raised me without introducing me to the 1,2,3’s of public transportation. they glared at the idea of their kids having to battle out the smoke and the hassle of unsafe mobility. so it’s not my fault that i don’t commute. i never entertain the idea - until my first day of internship. :|

i forgot about my first day and all the cars were being used. i was helpless since i really had to report there. my mom was scrambling at home, panicking for my insistent pressure of settling with commuting. she didn’t have a choice. no taxi took us in since the place is incredibly far from where i’m living - qc. so i thought on my feet and asked my pregnant yaya to tag along with me. my parents commanded her to accompany me since it’s she who knows the ins and outs of dangerous manila. she was street smart and that’s all that i’m not. (yet)

we rode the fx.

love, spring
okay, this will be my last polyvore for the day and i’ll go on a self-controlled polvore hiatus. tee hee.
it’s addicting and i can’t stop making spreads.
anyway, here’s a set i made for spring-summer. it’s the season for bright colors and bold prints. play up chic pieces for a spring goddess ensemble.
for sure, the tulips will bloom and the sun will come out with these fun pieces.

fashion blackout.
it’s my first polyvore set!!! i love it! thanks to maxx for introducing me to this cool site!!!
this is complete genius.
fashion sense + creativity + layouting = love it.
being an intern for a glossy magazine, this site allows me to excercise my layouting skills. it’s a huge help. and to make things even cooler, the clothes are just major dreamy.
where else can one have a chanel clutch and a lanvin shirt all in one click— without any hesitation of burning cash. if you’re like me the answer is “only in polyvore”.

i’m lost. find me.
it’s been weeks now (aside from the saab-mar tandem) since i last saw my barkada and i feel lost.
i miss my best friends, i miss the laughter, i miss the inside jokes, i miss the gossip, i miss the frankness. i miss the familiarity and the warmth. i miss everything about them.
everything. and yes, even their way of mocking and lambing at the same time.
it’s like being in a middle of a crowd without anyone to hold on to. it’s like being in a foreign land. it’s like being away from home. it’s like having an appendage amputated.
it just feels wrong. some thing’s missing. a part of you is missing.
i’m not all drama. in fact, i’ve had a swell time with my plurkada and my fabulous internship for some fashion magazine. every thing i’ve dreamed of and i thank everyone for the love and the relationships i am highly gracious for.
i’ve been really busy and so is everyone else. some are abroad, some are out of town while the rest are busy with their own lives. i, too, am guilty but as i step back, when all the noise and the chaos is gone, when the computer’s shutdown and the laughter subsides.. i’m alone.
ang drama ko. :|
where are you guys?
my love goes out to each and everyone of you. <3
